Nov. 2020: Check out our new article in Amstat News: Panel Shares Advice on Applying for NSF Fellowships. We provide tips on how to approach the NSF Graduate and Postdoctoral Fellowships.
Jul. 2020: New preprint posted: Contour Models for Boundaries Enclosing Star-Shaped and Approximately Star-Shaped Polygons. This paper develops the Gaussian Star-shaped Contour Model (GSCM) for inferring distributions from multiple fully-observed contours.
Jun. 2020: I successfully defended my dissertation, Space-Time Contour Models for Sea Ice Forecasting.
Mar. 2020: I was awarded an NSF Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. My project on "Spatiotemporal Methods for Integrating Stochastic Components in Dynamic Sea Ice Models" will develop data-driven methods for implementing stochastic parameterization.
Mar. 2020: I was a coauthor on the recently-published AGU Advances Editors' Highlight article, Substantial Cloud Brightening From Shipping in Subtropical Low Clouds. Our research estimated the effects of shipping pollution on cloud properties. The research was also covered by the American Geophysical Union, Mongabay, NASA Earth Observatory, UW News, and Wired.
Nov. 2019: I received the 2018-2019 UW Statistics Z. W. Birnbaum Award for outstanding general (Ph.D. candidacy) exam.
Aug. 2019: My presentation on "Probabilistic Forecasting of the Arctic Sea Ice Edge" received an Honorable Mention in the student oral presentation awards at the International Glaciology Society Sea Ice Symposium.
